Day 3 of the Season
Here in Georgia, squirrel season opened day before yesterday. I haven't made it out yet, but I'm definitely itching to. Working from my office at home, I've been watching squirrels at the feeder and becoming increasing impatient to get out to the woods and go after them.
Last season, I hunted Pine Log WMA a lot, but tragically that public land has reverted to private and is fore sale. Everyone knew it was coming, and I spent several sad days at the end of the last season, slowly moping my way through some of what had become favorite spots there. This year it will be a little bit of Sheffield WMA, but mostly John's Mountain.
I am excited about my gear setup too. During the down time, I put a lot of thought and a bit more money than I ought to have into it. Two setups - one that will be the main go to and the second as a loaner for if this kids want to come along. More details on those later.
If the weather works out tomorrow, need to get out to the range and make sure every thing is on.
